Dr. Dale Bredesen, a pioneering researcher in the field of neurodegenerative brain disorders including many forms of dementia, is now conducting, along with a handful of practitioners, further research with patients experiencing early cognitive decline and finding great success.  There are many Functional Medicine doctors and neurologists that are altering their treatment of cognitive decline and leaning towards early prevention so that as Dr. Bredesen says, Alzheimers should no longer be a threat. 

There is no “silver bullet”, but rather there is “silver buckshot” to quote Dr. Bredesen.  I.e. the attempt to develop a single pharmaceutical has failed over and over, but the multifaceted program to address the insufficiencies in our diets, lifestyles, and genetics is bringing about remarkable changes in our deficits as well as preventing the onset of these deficits in the first place. This is 21st century medicine! The idea is to start before the onset of obvious symptoms to have the most success for prevention. But even after the decline has begun, there is a good chance for reversal.

Rather than a lengthy post on my part, it is well worth your time to listen to a mind-blowing podcast (the best and latest) between Dhru Purohit and Dr. Dale Bredesen.  You have a choice of podcast or You-Tube video. Though lengthy, this is by far the most thorough explanation of the protocol to address neurodegenerative diseases and how we all can get a head start on prevention.
