I’m passionate about helping others get healthy, by using the latest research to inform their diet and lifestyle.
I am Glenda Kapsalis, a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, with an added certification in coaching the Bredesen Protocol for reversing and preventing cognitive decline which is rapidly becoming a huge issue in developed countries. I help clients get on track to being healthy and feeling energized. It’s all about creating good habits one small step at a time. We have within ourselves the power to change the trajectory of our health and heal our bodies and souls. Functional Medicine is about getting to the root cause of disease rather than applying band-aids to ease the symptoms. We deserve to live a long, healthy, and gratifying life!
I LOVE to cook and invent recipes! I also love to hike, bike, garden and play violin and piano. I have always been an avid consumer of health research and finally decided to put my nose to the grindstone and get my certification in health coaching. Throughout my life I have had a variety of health issues, but with voracious reading, listening, and experimenting, I have been able to shine a light on the possibilities of a vibrant life beyond middle age.
I am a graduate of the University of Chicago with a degree in Sociology and a graduate certification in Education. (a.k.a. the teacher’s certificate all women were told we needed back in the day!) Music was always roaring around in my head. As a violinist, I pursued further training and I taught for many years and even wrote my own teaching series. But the lure of consuming dietary and lifestyle research pulled at me constantly as I watched family and friends become inadvertent cogs in the conventional medical/pharmaceutical complex.
I began with a course in Mindfulness in Education, and through all my reading realized that Functional Medicine and the associated integrative community offered real hope in terms of putting forth solutions as to the root cause of the multitude of chronic inflammatory diseases brought on by our “modern” lifestyle. I have been thrilled to witness clients get off of medications, change their dietary habits and lifestyles, and begin to thrive at a time when many are waiting for their next diagnosis and prescription. Hippocrates had it right! “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
