Many individuals have illuminated my path to a healthy senior life. I’ve probably tried most of the “healthy” diets that have evolved as Americans struggle with increasing obesity and illness. I did my best to research the health diet “de jour” and make sure my family was receiving the latest recommendations. At various times I was vegetarian, vegan, and even tried, much to the detriment of my health, a stint at being a raw foodist. But it is amazing to me that at this later stage in life, I have finally discovered a way of living and eating that keeps me satisfied, nourished, and fit.
This change probably started, coincidentally, about the time Michael Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma, a volume with health advice that still rings true, was published. “Eat real food, mostly plants.” Hence, with Michael’s permission granted, the Omnivore’s Solution blog was born.
However, after a hiatus of more than a few years, new mentors have appeared and my health has only benefited beyond expectations. It began with Mark Sisson, and quickly spread to include doctors, research scientists, and a multitude of members of the Paleo/Primal/Low Carb/Keto community, as well as my training as a Functional Medicine Health Coach and advanced training in the Bredesen Protocol for Alzheimer’s and other neurological degenerative diseases. I won’t go into the myriad of details here, but will post on my website many links to research, books, podcasts and other blogs along with my own recipes, musings etc. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the Paleo/Primal/Low Carb/Keto community and hope that their influence will shine through on my revived site/blog and be helpful to all as we age gracefully and with vitality.
